Inspired by a young guy who developed a Phone Locator using his Arduino Yun, I set out to develop one using a NodeMCU ESP8266-12E I purchased from Uctronics .
Here is a few pictures of the device and a few tests I conducted from my home.
The Phone Locator is very accurate. The code will collect the GPS coordinates with the help of Blynk and then on the push of a button connected to the ESP8266, an email will be sent with a Google Map link showing you the location of where you lost your phone.
I had some trouble with the code at first because the original authors code did not display accurate coordinates. I tweaked it a little by using the GpsParam gps (param) wrapper from Blynk, and added a string variable. I am a very new programmer so it took some time to get it right.
Off to my next tinkering project. How about a Weather Station? Well, better than the one I already built ;-).
